Driven to improve collaboration in his own hotel, our Founder Marius came up with the idea for hotelkit. Today, it’s an all-in-one operations platform simplifying daily workflows.

Our founding story

From hotelier’s challenge to an industry-leading solution  

The journey of hotelkit began in the heart of Salzburg, where our Co-Founder and CEO, Marius, took over his family hotel. Like many hoteliers, he quickly came across the challenges of communication and collaboration within his team. Daily operations felt overwhelming, and the existing tools simply didn’t address the unique needs of the hospitality industry. 

Determined to find a better way, Marius envisioned a solution that would not only simplify workflows but also promote a sense of teamwork. Recognizing that nothing on the market could meet these needs, he decided to take action. Together with three talented developers in their workspace – hotel room 404 – a fitting coincidence for a tech company in the making, they worked tirelessly, transforming ideas into a practical software solution. 

After months of hard work and dedication, hotelkit was officially launched in 2012. This wasn’t just another software; it was a lifeline for hoteliers facing similar struggles. Marius’s firsthand experience as a hotelier meant that hotelkit was designed to tackle real-world challenges in mind, creating a tool that was both practical and effective.

Our mission has evolved with our growth, but our core remains the same: to create tools that empower hotel teams to operate more efficiently. What started as one hotel’s challenge has become a global solution, transforming the way hotels operate by making team collaboration easy and effective.

How we give back

Sonneninsel charity project

We’re proud to have a long-term partnership with Sonneninsel, in supporting their psycho-social care for children. Our team actively contributes by helping maintain their facilities and providing donations to support their important work.

Running for a cause

Every year, we participate in the Wings for Life World Run to support spinal cord research. We cover our team’s registration fees and donate €1 for every kilometer run, helping those who can’t run themselves.
