In hotels, things change fast: new SOPs, policy changes, updated standards. Manually tracking when to review handbook articles? Not ideal. With the new Periodic Article Review Reminders, you can set automatic reminders for article owners to revisit and update content regularly.

How does it work?

Set a review frequency and assign an article reviewer; hotelkit takes care of the rest. Reviewers get notified when it’s time to review. Managers can easily track review history and see exactly what changes have been made. Simple and stress-free.

2. Reading Confirmation

From new safety protocols to HR updates, making sure everyone actually reads and understands important info can be tough, especially across multiple locations. Handling this manually means printing endless pages, collecting signatures, and endless follow-ups; it’s exhausting, time-consuming, and costly. With the Reading Confirmation feature in the handbook, you can ensure that team members: 

  • Read and understand critical updates 
  • Confirm reading with one click 
  • Are always in the know 
How does it work?

Enable reading confirmation on any handbook article. Every recipient selected instantly receives a notification to read the article. With a single click, they can confirm reading. hotelkit tracks who’s read it and who hasn’t, no paper, no follow-ups. 

3. Desktop Notifications

You already know how helpful mobile push notifications can be, but what about when you’re working on your laptop? With desktop notifications, you’ll now get real-time updates straight to your screen, whether it’s a new task, a repair update, or a handover waiting for you. No need to constantly check the kit; these pop-ups will make sure you never miss what matters, even while working in another tab or tool.  

How does it work?

To enable desktop notifications, you’ll need to activate them in three places:

  1. Browser settings – Allow notifications in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari 
  1. Device settings – Enable notifications for your browser in your device’s preferences 
  1. Platform settings – Go to your profile in hotelkit → Notification settings → Toggle on “Show desktop notifications” 

Once all are activated: 
Let’s say you’re working at the front office, and ding! A new guest request comes in. A desktop banner pops up to alert you immediately. No need to open hotelkit or refresh. You can also learn more about this feature in our helpkit.

4. Password Security

Keeping your data secure is a priority. That’s why we’ve made two important changes to the password settings in hotelkit:

  • Removed: Password expiration option (no more forced regular resets) 
  • Added: New passwords must include at least one special character (e.g., @, #, $) 
How does it work?

Forced resets often lead to weak passwords. Our new rule strengthens security without disrupting your team’s login experience. 

No more password expiry dates, and to strengthen password security, all new or updated passwords must include at least one special character. Existing passwords still work fine. The new rule applies only when setting or updating passwords going forward. 

5. New Statuses in the Idea tool

Turning ideas into action takes time, and it’s not always easy to see what stage you’re in. Now, with two new statuses in the idea tool, you can track progress more precisely and make decision-making more transparent. As of now there is two more status options in Ideas: 

  • Waiting for approval – The idea is ready, but needs management’s go-ahead 
  • In improvement – The idea has been implemented and is being refined based on feedback 
How does it work?

Let’s say you suggest offering personalized welcome drinks. The team loves it, but it’s pending the GM’s approval. Use this status to keep track. Mark it as “Waiting for approval.”

You’ve been using a new digital housekeeping checklist for a few weeks. After feedback from the team, you’re adjusting the steps and structure to make it more efficient. Use “In improvement” to reflect that ongoing work.
