Philipp Roggensinger, Director of DASBREITEHOTEL in Basel, has a clear vision: to keep the hotel technologically up to date. In an industry increasingly driven by digital processes, modern communication is a key success factor.
Since early 2020, the hotel has been using hotelkit – a platform that not only structures internal communication but also facilitates knowledge transfer. In this interview, Roggensinger shares how the software has transformed daily operations at the hotel. 

Challenge

Paper clutter and lack of transparency 

Before introducing hotelkit, DASBREITEHOTEL was plagued by what many would call a “paper chaos.” Notes under keyboards, scattered papers on monitors – information was often lost and organization suffered. Communication was inefficient, and critical information sometimes went missing entirely. Knowledge transfer was another issue: recurring questions, for instance about operating technical devices, would frequently land on the director’s desk. A sustainable solution was urgently needed. 

Solution

Digital structure for daily operations

The introduction of hotelkit brought structure to internal communication. Information is now shared digitally in a clear and organized manner – accessible from any device. Whether housekeeping, reception, or office – every department receives the data relevant to their responsibilities.

A key component is the hotelkit Handbook. Instructions and know-how are stored there permanently and are available at any time. This empowers team members to help themselves, reducing the burden on management. Adoption of the new system followed quickly. Despite some initial skepticism, especially from team members less comfortable with digital tools, hotelkit ultimately won everyone over thanks to clear communication and consistent implementation.

More efficient processes and clear knowledge sharing

Today, digital workflows are an integral part of everyday operations at DASBREITEHOTEL. Processes have become more transparent and efficient. Guest requests are managed via a dedicated tool and tracked transparently. Maintenance tasks and contract deadlines are centrally recorded and always visible.

hotelkit proved especially valuable during the pandemic: the hotel’s safety protocol could be accessed instantly with a single click, impressing even the authorities. Looking ahead, the hotel plans to expand its digital workflows with features like NFC tags and checklists for inspections and routine tasks.
